Jazz Writing Program Adjunct Faculty Position This position is dedicated exclusively to the Jazz Writing Program and differs significantly from a traditional MSJ adjunct faculty appointment. The successful candidate will possess a unique combination of teaching, technical, and studio management skills necessary to support the program's curriculum and recording facilities. - Introduction to MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Co-teach MSJ 775 - Jazz Writing Seminar. Direct the Jazz Recording Ensemble. Manage, maintain, and oversee the operation of two production/recording studios, ensuring that equipment, software, and facilities remain fully functional and up to date. Required Knowledge and Technical Skills Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in: MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) Music notation software, including Dorico, Sibelius, and/or Finale Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), including Pro Tools and Logic Pro Virtual instruments and sample libraries Audio recording, mixing, and production techniques Studio design, operation, and maintenance macOS Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 applications Preferred Qualifications Master's degree (MM) or Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in a relevant field. Demonstrated experience teaching at the collegiate level. Professional experience in jazz composition, arranging, recording, and music production.
