Job Description

Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary is a private, Catholic, co-educational academy committed to quality education integrated with Gospel values. A ministry sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and established in 1861, Gwynedd-Mercy Academy combines a long tradition of academic excellence with innovative teaching methodology and progressive technology integration to create a caring, child-centered environment. Gwynedd-Mercy Academy is seeking a part-time, innovative Art Teacher with experience and enthusiasm to facilitate the vision, implementation, and evolving instructional needs of the school's art program. As the Art Teacher, this person is responsible for establishing a classroom environment that develops students' competency by fostering their creativity, artistic expression, critical thinking, and appreciation for the arts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitates the integration of the arts across the curriculum in grades PreK-8 Provides art instruction for PreK-5th grade and 6th-8th grade electives Utilizes a variety of artistic techniques, media, and art history concepts to support cross-curricular programming and instruction Keeps current with best practices in art instruction, new and emerging artists, and educational art trends Employs effective classroom management techniques to create a challenging and exciting learning environment Displays student artwork throughout the school and supports school-wide activities and events with their artistic talent Enhances the school's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging Performs supervisory duties (lunch, recess, bus line, etc.), and assists with other programmatic activities that are part of the school day
QUALIFICATIONS
Desire to work in a Mercy-focused, Catholic school environment Bachelor's Degree in Art Education or a related field Applicable PA Teaching Certification 3-5 years of teaching experience in art education in an elementary and/or middle school setting Creative thinker and problem solver with strong organizational and time management skills Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to work as part of a team with faculty, parents, and students Familiarity with the following applications: iPad, Windows 10, Microsoft Office 2019/O365, G Suite for Education, Schoology, FACTS, and Canva Salary commensurate with experience.
