Job Description

We are currently seeking a Woodworking and Design Teacher starting in Fall 2026 at an independent school in Newtown, PA.
Woodworking and Design Teacher Responsibilities:
Teach several design and woodworking courses for upper school students. Use a variety of different materials and art styles to diversify student experiences in art making. Manage budget for studio supplies and equipment, including machine maintenance and safety checks. Evaluate each student's progress in their knowledge and skills. Communicate with parents to discuss the individual student's progress. Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, and professional development sessions. Maintain the Studio space and equipment, including the oversight of safety protocols for the space. Offer studio time after school for students to work safely on projects. Serve as an advisor to a small group of students ensuring student success. Contribute to school community outside of the classroom as an athletic coach, student advisor, student club leader, and/or dorm parent preferred.
Woodworking and Design Teacher Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in art field required. Master's degree is preferred. At least 2 years of teaching experience at the K-12 level preferred. Ability to teach woodworking and design courses. Proficiency in computer-aided design software. Eager to work collaboratively with other teachers. Strong organizational, communication, and studio management skills. U.S. Work Authorization required
Additional Desired Qualities:
Experience with International Baccalaureate (IB) preferred. Pay:
$50,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
