Full Job Description High School Art TeacherPosition Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and student-centered High School Art Teacher to join our educational community. The ideal candidate is compassionate, committed to continuous growth, and dedicated to helping students develop their creativity, confidence, and artistic potential. The Art Teacher will design engaging, rigorous, and culturally responsive art lessons that encourage creativity, self-expression, critical thinking, and artistic skill development. The teacher will introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, mediums, styles, and perspectives while creating a classroom environment where all students feel valued, supported, and challenged. This role requires the ability to differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs, provide hands-on learning experiences, and build strong relationships with students and families. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, participate in professional development, and contribute to a positive school culture that prepares students for success in college, career, and life.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required. Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teaching license, or eligibility for licensure, in the subject area(s) being taught. Successful teaching experience preferred; experience in an urban school setting is a plus. Knowledge and ability to create a learning environment that promotes college readiness and high student achievement. Ability to serve as an advisor to a small group of students. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective classroom management skills. Passion for quality education and student achievement. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced educational environment. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Commitment to continuous professional growth and improvement. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Develop and deliver meaningful, engaging, and rigorous art lessons that promote creativity, artistic development, and academic achievement. Teach students a variety of artistic techniques, mediums, styles, and creative approaches. Provide hands-on learning experiences that encourage self-expression, critical thinking, and collaboration. Differentiate instruction to support students with varied learning needs and abilities. Maintain high expectations for students' academic, behavioral, and social development. Apply effective teaching practices and classroom management strategies. Create a classroom culture that promotes learning, respect, trust, creativity, and responsibility. Build positive and trusting relationships with students and their families/guardians. Collaborate with colleagues and instructional staff to support student achievement. Analyze student performance and use data to guide instruction and establish learning goals. Incorporate appropriate technology and digital tools into daily instruction. Participate in professional development and work with instructional coaches or school leaders to continuously improve teaching practice. Remain open to feedback and implement recommendations that support continuous improvement. Maintain accurate and timely student records, grades, and assignments in the school's designated student information system. Read and respond to school communications, including email and phone messages, in a timely manner. Supervise students and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment at all times. Serve as an advisor to students as assigned. Support the school's mission, vision, and values. Follow all applicable school policies, procedures, and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teacher standards. Maintain the appropriate Wisconsin teaching license or required licensure status for the subject area(s) taught.
