ESOL Instructor for Early Childhood Education-Part time

Job Description

Overview NDEC-Lawrence is a mission-driven Adult Learning Center in Lawrence, MA seeking a dynamic ESOL instructor who can teach adults in person on Tuesdays/Thursdays, 6pm-9pm and Wednesdays from 9am-3pm. Position will begin mid-late September.
Salary range:
$27-$29/hr The ESOL Instructor for Ecare will develop and provide ESOL lessons for intermediate adult English Language Learners contextualized to the Early Childhood Education as part of a comprehensive MassSTEP training program that prepares participants to be assistant teachers in early childhood education environments. The training program includes English language development, job readiness support, and college preparation, as well as New Teacher Academy and a paid apprenticeship. All graduates of this program qualify for free continuing education and job promotion for advancement along the early childhood education career path. Responsibilities Teach level-appropriate, English language lessons contextualized to students' future work as early childhood teachers Select and develop appropriate materials and methods that encourage student achievement Implement the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education as part of curriculum planning. Monitor student goals; provide encouragement/strategies for students to attain them Monitor student attendance and progress; Refer students to academic and career advisor, when appropriate Maintain daily teaching log, assessment log, and attendance log Submit complete monthly lesson plans using
SABES/DESE
template to the ECare Program Coordinator Administer teacher-made formal and informal assessments to ascertain student learning Evaluate interpersonal skills, technical skills, and knowledge base of students in the classroom at regular intervals to monitor student progress and proficiency Maintain portfolio of student assignments, assessments, and projects Attend ECare staff meetings as scheduled Attend pre- and post- service meetings Create professional development (PD) plan in conjunction with Program Coordinator and/or Executive Director (ED) and attend associated PD activities Pivot to on-line instruction as circumstances require Assist in planning, promotion, and implementation of program activities Other duties as assigned Experience Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required At least one year experience in workforce development and/or early childhood education At least one experience in ESOL teaching/tutoring At least one year experience working with an adult learning population experience working as part of an educational team Proficiency in Google Suite tools including
Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, Gmail Pay:
$27.00 - $29.00 per hour
