Vice Principal Job Summary:

Henry Ford Academy is seeking a High School Spanish Teacher to join our dedicated team of educators. In this role, you will facilitate engaging, immersive learning experiences for students of diverse backgrounds and proficiency levels. Your expertise will empower students to develop their language skills, cultural understanding, and confidence in using Spanish in real-world contexts. Key Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum ➢ Plan and deliver effective, standards-based instruction in assigned subject area(s). ➢ Develop lesson plans that meet diverse learning needs and instructional goals. ➢ Utilize a variety of teaching methods, technologies, and instructional resources to enhance student learning. ➢ Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying academic abilities and learning styles. ➢ Incorporate critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world applications into lessons. ➢ Maintain accurate and up-to-date lesson plans and instructional materials. Student Assessment ➢ Assess and evaluate student performance through formal and informal assessments. ➢ Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians. ➢ Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student performance. ➢ Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes. Classroom Management ➢ Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment. ➢ Implement school policies, procedures, and student discipline expectations consistently. ➢ Foster positive relationships with students that support academic and social-emotional growth. ➢ Promote student engagement, responsibility, and accountability. Communication and Collaboration ➢ Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns. ➢ Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs. ➢ Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and school events. ➢ Support school-wide initiatives and programs. Professional Responsibilities ➢ Participate in professional development activities and continuous learning opportunities. ➢ Maintain compliance with state, federal, and school policies and regulations. ➢ Fulfill supervisory duties as assigned, including hall, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and extracurricular supervision. ➢ Serve as a positive role model for students and the school community. ➢ Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience ➢ Bachelor's degree in Education, Spanish, Linguistics, or a related field ➢ Teaching certification in content area ➢ Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and effective pedagogical strategies ➢ Appropriate subject-area endorsement(s) required. ➢ Previous teaching experience preferred. ➢ Experience working with high school students is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ➢ Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment strategies. ➢ Ability to effectively engage and motivate students. ➢ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. ➢ Ability to use educational technology and learning management systems. ➢ Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff. ➢ Proven experience teaching students at various proficiency levels ➢ Desire to work with high school students and staff from diverse backgrounds. ➢ Experience working with students in individual and group settings. ➢ Ability to communicate at various levels with students, parents, staff, and volunteers. ➢ Ability to work as part of a team in a public school academy that includes teachers, teacher interns, administrators, support staff and volunteers. ➢ Self-motivated, multi-tasking ability; able to stay focused in a distracting, noisy environment; ability to work with people in a positive manner; able to keep sensitive information confidential; able to respond effectively and maintain a calm environment in emergencies. ➢ Proven experience teaching students at various proficiency levels ➢ Desire to work with high school students and staff from diverse backgrounds. ➢ Experience working with students in individual and group settings. ➢ Ability to communicate at various levels with students, parents, staff, and volunteers. ➢ Ability to work as part of a team in a public school academy that includes teachers, teacher interns, administrators, support staff and volunteers. ➢ Self-motivated, multi-tasking ability; able to stay focused in a distracting, noisy environment; ability to work with people in a positive manner; able to keep sensitive information confidential; able to respond effectively and maintain a calm environment in emergencies.

Work Environment, Conditions and Benefits:

The duty period is 8:00am to 4:00pm during typical school days. The Spanish Teacher may also be present from 4:00-5:00pm on scheduled school meetings days.
