full-time Adjunct Instructors in Hebrew, Fall 2026 (Immediate Openings): The Jewish Theological Seminary The Hebrew Program at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) invites applications for part-time adjunct instructor positions for the 2026-27 academic year. Several positions are open for the fall semester, which begins September 8, 2026. All courses meet in person on the JTS campus in Manhattan. Responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, holding regular office hours for student consultation and advising, and participating in program meetings. Required Qualifications MA or higher in Hebrew language, Hebrew literature, Hebrew language pedagogy, or a cognate field Experience teaching Hebrew as an additional language Demonstrated pedagogical strength and the ability to sustain an engaging, inclusive classroom Fluency in Modern Hebrew, spoken and written Ability and willingness to conduct instruction entirely in Hebrew Preferred Qualifications Training in communicative approaches to Hebrew language instruction Ability to teach the Hebrew of the Tanakh, Hazal, the commentaries, and the Siddur Experience teaching Hebrew at the college level Terms of Appointment Appointments are made per course, per semester, and are contingent on sufficient enrollment and budgetary approval. Classes meet three or four times weekly for seventy-five minutes each, throughout the academic semester. Compensation ranges from $8,000 to $10,800 per course, depending on the course, contact hours, and the candidate's qualifications and experience.
