The successful candidate will provide engaging instruction in American Sign Language to students in grades 9-12 while fostering an inclusive, student-centered classroom environment that supports academic excellence and aligns with the mission of Catholic education. Qualifications The candidate for this position must: Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Hold a qualified or professional certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) or possess related professional certifications in American Sign Language and/or sign language interpretation. Be familiar with New York State World Languages learning standards and assessment requirements . Demonstrate knowledge of current educational best practices and instructional technology, including SMART Boards, iOS devices, learning management systems, and other classroom technology, and effectively integrate these tools into instruction. Create engaging lesson plans that meet the diverse learning needs of high school students. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, students, and families. Be committed to incorporating the school's Catholic mission and values into the educational experience while respecting students of all backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Previous high school teaching experience. Willingness to moderate or coordinate extracurricular activities, clubs, or student organizations. Experience using educational technology and differentiated instructional practices.
