BASIS Independent Schools seeks a full-time Mandarin Teacher to deliver rigorous, immersion-based instruction for middle and/or high school students. In this role, you will design and implement engaging lessons focused on communication, literacy, and cultural understanding aligned to a globally benchmarked curriculum. You will use data to track student progress, provide targeted support, and maintain high academic expectations. Collaboration is key-you'll work closely with expert colleagues, participate in professional development, communicate regularly with families, and contribute to a mission-driven, fast-paced school community. Responsibilities Plan and deliver rigorous Mandarin language lessons aligned to school curriculum Create immersion-based learning activities that build communication and literacy skills Differentiate instruction and provide targeted support based on student data Assess student learning through formative and summative evaluations Maintain a positive, structured, and academically focused classroom environment Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, assessments, and school initiatives Communicate regularly with students and families about progress and expectations Participate in professional development and faculty meetings Incorporate Chinese culture and global perspectives into instruction Contribute to school events, clubs, or enrichment activities as needed Required Skills Mandarin language proficiency (near-native or native) Curriculum design for world language instruction Classroom management in rigorous academic settings Standards-based assessment and grading Lesson planning and unit planning Differentiated instruction for diverse learners Use of educational technology and LMS platforms Student data analysis to inform instruction Cross-cultural and global competency integration Parent and student communication
