Part-Time ASL Instructor - St. Aidan School Pre-K-2nd Grade | Independent Contractor | Williston Park, NY Sign Language Hub is seeking an engaging and dependable American Sign Language instructor to teach weekly, in-person ASL classes at St. Aidan School in Williston Park, New York, during the 2026-2027 school year. The position runs from September 2026 through June 2027. The instructor will teach students from Pre-K through second grade. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with young children and can provide interactive, age-appropriate instruction through games, movement, visual activities, and conversational ASL.

Thursdays Morning Classes:
8:50 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Unpaid Midday Break:
11:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m.
Afternoon Classes:
12:50-2:10 p.m.
Paid Instructional Time:
4 hours per week
Paid Preparation Time:
1 hour per week
Total Paid Time:
5 hours per week Applicants must be available for the full Thursday schedule and commit to the full 2026-2027 school year. Classes follow the St. Aidan School calendar. There will be no classes on certain school holidays, recess periods, conference days, Catholic Schools Week activities, or other school closure dates. A complete calendar of instructional dates will be provided during the hiring process. Responsibilities Teach engaging and age-appropriate ASL lessons using curriculum guidelines and lesson plans provided by Sign Language Hub. Adapt activities as needed for different age groups and learning styles. Introduce students to ASL vocabulary, basic conversation, Deaf culture, and visual communication. Prepare and organize materials for interactive classroom activities. Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Communicate regularly with the Sign Language Hub program team regarding attendance, student progress, and classroom needs. Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and classroom expectations. Complete all required school onboarding, background checks, VIRTUS training, certifications, and clearance requirements before beginning the position. Required Qualifications Fluency or strong proficiency in American Sign Language. Experience teaching or working with young children. Strong classroom-management, communication, and organizational skills. Reliable transportation to Williston Park, New York. Dependability and availability for the full 2026-2027 school year. Willingness and ability to complete VIRTUS Protecting God's Children training. Willingness and ability to obtain any certification, fingerprinting, background check, clearance, or other documentation required by St. Aidan School or the Diocese. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience teaching ASL in a school setting. Experience working in a Catholic or private school. Current VIRTUS certification or previous completion of VIRTUS training. New York State teaching certification, educational certification, or another relevant professional credential. Deaf, hard-of-hearing, CODA, and hearing ASL professionals are encouraged to apply. Compensation $40-$60 per paid hour , based on experience and qualifications. The position includes four paid instructional hours and one paid preparation hour per week. The midday lunch and break are unpaid.
