About this Position This is a Grant Funded Position A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Swarup Mitra at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. This NIH-funded position is ideal for an ambitious and collaborative scientist interested in working at the intersection of neuroscience, gut microbiome biology, and neuroimmune signaling.
Research Focus:
Our laboratory investigates how interactions between the gut microbiome and the brain influence behavior, neural plasticity, stress susceptibility, and disease vulnerability. Current NIH-funded projects examine mechanisms by which microbial and host-derived signals influence neural circuits and cellular processes, including astrocyte and oligodendrocyte biology, neuroimmune signaling, epigenetic regulation, and behavioral adaptations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across multiple experimental platforms and develop an independent research direction within the broader goals of the NIH-funded program Required Qualifications A Ph. D. in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or Microbiology in Public Health, Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, or a related discipline Ph. D./Ed. D.
