If you qualify, please apply and briefly describe your special area of instruction in your cover letter. This pool will remain open until June 2027 unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed, and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available. Compensation is based on the 26-27 Adjunct Faculty Salary Schedule Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various Science (biology, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology) courses. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the science department of Rogue Community College. Supervision Received The Director is responsible for evaluating faculty under procedures developed by the vice president and collaborates with the Dean and Department Coordinator regarding faculty workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing decisions. Supervision Exercised The instructor is responsible for carrying out all duties required to supervise students in lecture or lab. This includes classroom control, maintaining a safe environment, insuring proper care and use of equipment, and classroom discipline. Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate during the day, evening, or weekend. Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate. Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course. Adapt learning procedures to the online/distance learning environment, including telecourse and web-based delivery, ensuring comparable quality of instruction, student-teacher interaction, and assessment with classroom-based courses. May participate as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities. Communicate effectively with a wide variety of students and college staff. Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department. Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed. Organize the learning experience for the maximum benefit of traditional and non-traditional learners. Advise students on matters of program goals and course requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education :

A Master's degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field is required for lecture. A Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field is required for labs. Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by

ORS 348.609.

Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Experience :

Experience teaching at a high school or college level is desirable but not required.

Knowledge of :

Sufficient knowledge of the subject area taught; computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, and spreadsheets; curriculum development; the community colleges' mission, role in higher education, and student population; and sensitivity to a diverse student body and its needs. Ability to : Communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse students, staff, and community members; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and related educational duties, including the use of new technologies such as online instruction; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth. Pass a criminal background check.

Licenses :

If required to drive on behalf of the college, must possess a valid Oregon Driver License and provide proof of an acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands :

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 60%) which is spent in a classroom operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, telephones, and other standard office equipment or in a lab environment using standard science equipment and tools. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds daily, 5-25 pounds occasionally, and 25-60 pounds occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.
