POSITION SUMMARY:
Conducts swim lessons using the National YMCA Aquatic programs. This position will perform tasks assigned accordance with the values, mission, and policies of the

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
He/she must have the ability to demonstrate understanding of member service; effective and efficient time management; excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to exemplify a "Y-Voice" that demonstrates determination, genuine concern, welcoming attitude, hopefulness and a nurturing spirit. Understand ethical behavior and business practices, and ensure that own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization; maintain a work ethic that holds a high standard to organizational accountability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Instructs assigned lessons within National YMCA guidelines. Demonstrates the appropriate swimming skills and explains the swimming skills clearly to the class participants. Prepares and utilizes lesson plans as outlined. Maintains knowledge of current best practices in swim instruction. Responds to patron concerns in a timely, appropriate manner. Reports all incidents and concerns to the Pool Manager and the Y Aquatics Director or Assistant Director. Attends staff meetings and trainings as deemed necessary by the Aquatics Director. Follows all policies and procedures listed in the Employee Handbook and Aquatics Procedural Handbook.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Certifications:
CPR/AED/First Aid for adults, children, and infants. May be acquired after hire. Ability to comprehend simple instructions, written correspondence; present information in an oral format; read and interpret documents such as policies and procedures; and speak effectively in front of people. At least 16 years of age. Must be able to perform swim skills equivalent to a YMCA stage 4 swimmer or higher.
