Fri Sep 11 2026 Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Coach, Sports Performance - Olympic Sports / Education Support Specialist II (T0028). As an Assistant Sports Performance Coach for Olympic sports, you will play a key role in an elite Division I department that prioritizes the student-athlete experience. This position offers valuable on- and off-field professional development designed to prepare you for future growth opportunities. Primary responsibilities include the design, implementation, and scheduling of sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for 3-5 assigned teams, as determined by the Director of Sports Performance. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Design, implement, and schedule strength and conditioning programs for 3-5 assigned Olympic sport teams, including Olympic and strength training movements, speed and agility development, and plyometric progressions. Demonstrate proficiency in exercise selection, coaching technique, and progression strategies across all assigned training modalities. Build and maintain strong working relationships with student-athletes, sport coaches, and athletic trainers to support performance and wellness goals. Assist with daily supplement distribution and nutritional support for student-athletes. Support the daily operation, organization, and upkeep of the Olympic Performance Center. Assist the Director of Sports Performance in the education, mentorship, and management of graduate assistants and interns. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree is required CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Certification) required. CPR/AED certification. Relevant experience in the professional or collegiate setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

USA Weightlifting coaching certification preferred. Master's degree preferred.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time, temporary wage, non-exempt position in pay band 3, limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours maximum per work year. The anticipated hourly rate for this position will be $20.83. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany this position.
