The Sharon Academy Schedule:
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:00 AM•2:00 PM (10-15 hours/week) Position Overview The Sharon Academy seeks a part-time Writing Coach to support 11th and 12th grade students with writing across the curriculum, with particular focus on Literature and History coursework, Exhibition Papers, and college essays. The Writing Coach works closely with classroom teachers and students to provide individualized, targeted support that helps students grow as writers and meet the demands of increasingly complex academic and personal writing. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small-group writing support to 11th and 12th graders, primarily in Literature and History classes Guide students through the writing and revision process for Exhibition Papers and college application essays Prioritize and coordinate support based on individual student needs, working collaboratively with classroom teachers to align on goals and progress Attend class sessions as needed to observe assignments firsthand and integrate support into ongoing coursework Proactively communicate with teachers about student progress, questions, and concerns Maintain thorough, organized tracking of student support and follow-up Uphold confidentiality and professional integrity in all student interactions Approach work with sensitivity to equity and the whole student, taking into account each student's individual context and needs Qualities We're Looking For A student-centered approach, with genuine attentiveness to individual needs balanced against broader academic goals Strong collaborative and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with faculty Excellent writing and writing-instruction skills, particularly in academic and personal essay forms Kindness, professionalism, and integrity in all aspects of the work Sensitivity to issues of bias and equity, with a commitment to supporting the whole student Comfort working within a small, close-knit school community Schedule & Commitment This is a part-time position, 10-15 hours per week, on-site Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
