POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Asst. Professor
  • STEM (MIS, Cybersecurity, Emerging Tech.
) Mount Vernon Nazarene University exists to shape lives through educating the whole person and cultivating Christ-likeness for lifelong learning and service. Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) is an intentionally Christian teaching University for traditional age students, graduate students, and working adults who seek opportunities to learn and grow in an academic community of faith. Faculty, staff, and students are challenged to achieve their highest potential, to become increasingly Christ-like and to make a difference in their world through lifelong service. The university seeks a full-time, 9-month, Asst. Professor
  • STEM (MIS, Cybersecurity, Emerging Tech.). Rank is Asst. Professor. Compensation is to be competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in MIS, Cybersecurity, Emerging Technologies,
  • Data Analytics, or related fields.
  • Develop and update curriculum to align with industry standards and academic best practices. Conduct research and contribute to scholarly publications in STEM-related disciplines.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students pursuing technology-related careers.
  • Engage in university service, including committee participation and student development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with industry professionals to create experiential learning opportunities such
  • as internships, capstone projects, and research collaborations. Integrate ethical, legal, and security considerations into course instruction.
  • Participate in faculty development programs and stay updated with advancements in technology and pedagogy.
  • Serving the University through committee participation and other assigned tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications for the successful candidate:
  • Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit.
  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
  • Understanding and alignment of the heritage, doctrine, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting.
  • Evidence of scholarly potential.
  • Commitment to continued professional development.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work well with others, especially to work alongside students and colleagues.
