Job Description
The Freshman Engineering Program and the Lee J Styslinger Jr. College of Engineering at The University of Alabama invite applicationsfor full-time, nine month, renewable-contract faculty with focuses in computer science and AI. This position is non-tenure track, three-yearappointment that is renewable at the discretion of the University.
Primary responsibilities of this positioninclude:
Teaching sections of
ENGR 101
The World of Engineering The focus of this course is to prepare freshman forsuccessful study in engineering and computer science. The course concentrates on developing an understanding of one's discipline, thecontributions that one's discipline makes to society, and the skills necessary for academic and career success in the field. Teachingsections of
ENGR 104
Fundamentals of Engineering, CS Software, Code, and Security This course helps build foundational skills in structuredproblem solving and modeling that are broadly applicable across engineering and computer science fields. The instructor will play a criticalrole in helping students transition into college-level STEM coursework while promoting student engagement, resilience, and curiosity. Coursedelivery includes lectures, labs, group work, and projects contextualized by real-world engineering problems. Collaboration with faculty inengineering and computing-related fields is expected to ensure that course content reflects current and emerging industryexpectations.
Additional Responsibilities:
Develop AI training and ethical use related materials for allengineering students Conduct regular office hours Participate FEP planning and coordination meetings Participate incollege and university events Serve on assigned college committees
