•$55.00 / hour Position Overview Houston Community College is seeking a dynamic, qualified Instructor of Banking and Finance to join the faculty team. This instructional role provides academic expertise and support across HCCs curriculum. Key duties involve designing course materials aligned with higher education standards, applying diverse teaching methodologies, advising students, and participating in departmental and institutional development.

Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Course Delivery:

Plan, develop, and deliver course content using innovative, multi-modal instructional techniques for students with diverse experiential and learning backgrounds.

Develop and distribute detailed syllabi according to institutional and departmental guidelines.

Evaluate student work and measure academic progress against learning objectives with timely feedback.

Teach courses across flexible schedules (day/evening) and at various campus locations based on institutional needs.

Select, review, and evaluate course textbooks and instructional resources.

Academic Advising & Engagement:

Maintain regular accessibility for students through posted office hours and electronic communication.

Provide academic, career, and transfer guidance, introducing students to co-ops, scholarships, and student organizations.

Assist in maintaining program information resources and web content.

Professional Development & Service:

Formulate annual professional growth objectives and stay current with emerging industry trends.

Participate in college governance, departmental committees, accreditation processes, and institutional events (commencement, orientation week).

Engage with business and community partners to foster goodwill, support student recruitment, and promote the mission of HCC.

The company is looking for:
Education:

Associate degree or higher required; Bachelors degree preferred (in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or related field).

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of college-level teaching experience OR

Three (3) to ten (10) years of relevant professional industry experience in banking or financial services.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Proficiency in educational software, Microsoft Office Suite, and instructional technology.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with diverse populations.

Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and accommodate students with varying socio-economic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
