Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Serves as a role model, consultant, charge agent, teacher and facilitator in assessing learning needs and in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating educational activities for the staff and community. Responsible for the development and administration of evidence and theory based, clinical staff development programs for the purpose of improving patient care by increasing the competence of all personnel involved in the delivery of patient services. This position will administer and track in-house online courses to all staff members. This position will assist in policy coordination and management of hospital policies. Provides clinical support and serves as a resource for director, nurse managers, clinical leaders and staff to maintain competencies and improve skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to gather, analyze and assess data from various sources.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. BSN preferred. Five years clinical experience specific to clinical areas assigned. Experience in nurse-peer training.
SPECIAL SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and the community. Proficient computer skills. Must be self-directed and self-motivated. Agrees to be flexible with hours to meet timely educational needs. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to exercise independent judgment in the completion of assignments and duties. Readily adapts to change and welcomes new approaches when circumstances demand it. Certification in BLS Provider required. Certification in
ACLS, PALS, NRP
preferred. BLS instructor status within 12 months of hire date. ACLS instructor status required within 18 months of hire date. PALS and/or NRP provider status within 2 years; instructor of PALS and/or NRP within 3 years of employment as directed by CNO. Minimal travel required.
