Job Description

The Education Coordinator has primary responsibility for coordinating the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation or consultation of educational activities to develop, maintain and enhance clinical and educational skills of personnel within the laboratory. Works closely and communicates with the management team regarding the educational and technical needs of the department. May provide technical training for a variety of departments at Mayo. Serves as a technical and public relations liaison and resource technician for the laboratory computer systems. Assists laboratory staff with cardiac knowledge, technical knowledge, and procedural problems. Develops, facilitates and maintains quality measures, quality assurance and quality improvements for various areas of the lab. Performs special procedures and various laboratory technician duties as needed. Develops and maintains cardiac education curriculum for internal staff and external customers.

Requires a minimum of a four-year degree in a health related or education field plus one year of Cardiology experience, or a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Cardiology. Requires advanced knowledge of ECG interpretation. Must be highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and creativity in educating various learning styles and developing teaching strategies. Must be an educational resource for physicians and cardiac allied-health professionals. Broad based knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

Licensure or Certification:

Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician certification required within 6 months of hire. BLS is required within 6 months of hire.
