Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a genuine difference in students' lives by supporting learners with visual impairments. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work one-on-one and in small groups with a diverse caseload of approximately 20-23 students, providing vital educational access and hands-on support. You'll collaborate closely with educational teams to help students reach their fullest potential.
Key Qualifications:
Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License/Certifications required Prior experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting is highly valued Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, students, and families Commitment to individualized education, adapting materials and approaches as student needs demand Familiarity with accessible technology and Braille instruction is preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum to meet each learner's unique needs Conduct assessments and develop/implement IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams Serve as a resource to teachers and staff on best practices and accessible learning materials Provide training and support in using assistive devices and accessible technology Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching methods accordingly Consult and coordinate with families regarding goals, progress, and strategies
