Education Coordinator

Job Description

This is a full-time position reporting Monday through Friday from 9AM - 5PM with weekend availability.
Salary:
$50,000 - $60,000, annually The Education Coordinator will plan, develop, and teach high-quality education workshops for Pre-K to 12 students and the public. Ideal candidates are organized, innovative, and self-starters with excellent communication skills. Programs include outreach, weekend, and occasional evenings. The employee will report to the Director of Education.
Main Responsibilities:
The Education Coordinator will incorporate the museum collection, exhibitions, theater shows, current events, timelines, facts, and core curriculum standards into all written materials and activities. He/She/They will design, implement, and evaluate programming for appropriate ages and audiences. Some of the duties include, but are not limited to - Research, design, and implement new programs for the Director of Education Train, manage, and evaluate part-time museum educators and associates on program content Inspire and excite students about STEM by facilitating a conducive learning environment for participants of all ages to further our mission Forge and lead partnership content with local school districts and community organizations Maintain storage areas and classrooms Manage partnership budgets to ensure materials are ordered, proper, and within constraints Create continuing teacher learning opportunities for school districts Represent the Museum at appropriate events and conferences Seek and apply for funding opportunities when requested Remain current with teaching techniques and practices Deliver STEM-based classes with accuracy and enthusiasm both on-site and off-site as requested Oversee administrative tasks including tracking attendance, ordering necessary materials, responding to public inquiries, producing statistics, researching offerings at other institutions for further growth Work collaboratively with other Museum team members including marketing, development, store, museum associates Qualifications and Experience Undergraduate degree in one of the following: museum studies, education, history, science, technology, or aerospace, or equivalent life experience in one or more of these areas. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning new software Understanding of curriculum writing to build programs for diverse audiences Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, able to problem-solve diplomatically. Experience working with students is preferable Bilingual preferred Capable of completing moderate physical demands up to 25 lbs.
