NYCHA Jobs Plus Site Position Summary The Educational Specialist is responsible for assisting Jobs Plus participants in identifying and achieving their educational and career advancement goals. The Educational Specialist provides educational counseling, academic planning, referrals to training providers, colleges, vocational programs, GED/HSE preparation, ESL, digital literacy, and industry-recognized credential programs. The position works collaboratively with Employment Specialists, Job Developers, Case Managers, and community partners to increase participants' education attainment, occupational skills, and long-term economic self-sufficiency. This aligns with the educational and referral responsibilities found in current Jobs Plus program positions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Educational Assessment & Career Planning Conduct comprehensive educational assessments for new program participants. Develop individualized Education and Career Plans (ECPs). Assess educational attainment, literacy, digital literacy, and occupational skill levels. Identify barriers to educational success and develop action plans. Education & Training Services Assist participants with enrollment in: GED/HSE preparation ESL classes Adult Basic Education College certificate programs Associate and Bachelor's degree programs Occupational skills training Union apprenticeship readiness programs Industry-recognized credential programs Coordinate referrals to education and workforce training providers. Monitor participant attendance, progress, and completion.
Career Readiness Facilitate workshops on:
Career exploration College readiness Financial Aid (FAFSA/TAP) Digital literacy Microsoft Office Resume development Interview preparation Study skills Time management Assist participants with college applications and admissions. Educate participants on career pathways leading to family-sustaining wages. Case Management Maintain ongoing contact with assigned participants. Document participant progress in Salesforce and HRA reporting systems. Conduct follow-up meetings to review educational milestones. Coordinate supportive services with internal and external partners.
Partnership Development Build relationships with:
Community colleges Adult education providers Workforce training organizations Apprenticeship programs Literacy organizations Public libraries Community-based organizations Coordinate education fairs and recruitment events. Represent Jobs Plus at community education events. Data Management Maintain accurate participant records. Track enrollments, completions, certifications, and educational outcomes. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Ensure compliance with HRA and funding requirements. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Workforce Development, or a related field. Two (2) years of experience in workforce development, adult education, career counseling, academic advising, or case management. Experience working with diverse and underserved populations. Strong knowledge of adult education and workforce development systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce or comparable case management systems. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or Human Services. Bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, Bengali, or other community language). Experience working in NYCHA communities. Knowledge of HRA Jobs Plus, WIOA, CUNY, SUNY, and apprenticeship programs. Familiarity with FAFSA, TAP, and workforce training funding opportunities. Develop Individual Education Plans for 100% of participants seeking education or training. Enroll at least 15-20 participants per month into educational or occupational training programs. Achieve at least an 80% training completion rate . Conduct a minimum of 2 educational workshops per month . Maintain 100% timely documentation in Salesforce and HRA systems. Establish and maintain partnerships with at least 15 educational and workforce training providers . Meet or exceed all HRA Jobs Plus contractual education and training performance measures.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
