Special Education Reading Specialist - Chester, Pennsylvania

Job Description

Category Schools - Reading Specialist Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in education as a Reading Specialist supporting elementary and K-8 students in a vibrant urban school environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to guide student growth onsite, working full-time (35 hours per week) with a dedicated, supportive team. With two openings available, you'll play a crucial role in driving literacy achievement and fostering student success.
Qualifications:
Reading Specialist certification required Active, valid Pennsylvania teaching certification/licensure Prior experience in a school-based setting, preferably in an urban environment Strong understanding of instructional practices, assessment, and differentiation Demonstrated classroom and behavioral management skills Ability to create and implement lesson plans aligned to state and district standards Comfortable working onsite and within the district's unique community Must be able to obtain/maintain all required PA clearances Reliable transportation required
Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted reading instruction to an elementary and K-8 caseload Develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate current standards and formative assessment strategies Tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs and support positive outcomes Use a variety of instructional resources and methods to build literacy skills Maintain accurate progress data and collaborate with school staff and families Support a positive, well-managed classroom environment to promote learning Participate in professional development and school initiatives Engage effectively with students from diverse backgrounds This onsite opportunity begins as soon as possible and runs through June 10, 2027.
