Leadership Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Trauma Quality and Education Coordinator actively monitors trauma patients from pre-hospital through discharge to ensure continuity and appropriateness of care. The role involves initiating trauma records upon patient identification, data collection, chart abstraction, coding (AIS/ISS), concurrent review, and analysis to identify problems, trends, and compliance issues in trauma care and the Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Program. Key responsibilities include oversight of optimal trauma care per American College of Surgeons (ACS) and Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) standards, maintenance of the trauma registry (per National Trauma Data Standards (NTDS)), data submission to agencies, performance improvement initiatives, multidisciplinary collaboration, and support for education, outreach, and injury prevention. Requires independent work with a heavy workload and strong team collaboration skills.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; current Texas RN license (or compact). BSN is required or willingness to obtain within 3 years.
Training and Experience:
One year in trauma/emergency/critical care preferred. Performance improvement experience preferred. Within 12 months of hire, must successfully complete ACS or DSHS required education and courses for trauma registrar/PI coordinator. Within 12 months of hire, must successfully complete
TNCC/ENPC
provider course. Instructor status in these courses is preferred.
Job Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of ACS, Texas trauma rules, NTDS, evidence-based trauma care (including mental health screening and SBIRT), and MS Office. Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills. Commitment to ongoing continuing education (CEs) as required for ACS and state designation.

Full Time, Day Shift, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
