Position Summary The Education and Outreach Coordinator will lead the development, delivery, and expansion of Pilchuck Audubon Society's (PAS) youth and adult education programs. This includes school presentations, nature walks, library programs, online classes, and community events. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about environmental education, skilled at engaging diverse audiences, and able to represent PAS in schools and community settings. Snohomish County and Camano Island, WA (hybrid: remote work and on-site on events)
Reports To:
Executive Director Key Responsibilities Program Delivery (40%) Lead in-person and occasional virtual presentations for schools, libraries, and community organizations Update and expand PAS' educational materials (e.g., presentations, hands-on activities, etc.) Represent PAS at tabling events (e.g., festivals, science fairs, community events, etc.) Event Coordination (30%) Schedule and coordinate education programs with teachers, librarians, and community partners Help organize and promote PAS events such as Puget Sound Bird Fest, Swifts Night Out, and educational programs Coordinate with and host instructors for online and/or in-person classes Coordinate with and host presenters for online and/or in-person monthly programs Communications & Marketing (10%) Support PAS's digital presence by creating social media posts, content for newsletters, and website updates Create accessible outreach materials (flyers, handouts, presentations) to share PAS's mission and programs Collect photos, stories, and testimonials to showcase community impact Volunteer Support (10%) Serve as the chair of the Education & Outreach Committee, and host regular meetings with volunteer committee members Recruit, train, and support volunteers who assist with education programs (e.g., tabling events) Help maintain volunteer records and build a strong education and outreach volunteer team Administration & Reporting (10%) Track program participation, impact metrics, and feedback for reporting Assist with writing short summaries for newsletters, grants, and social media Manage education materials, supplies, and program logistics Qualifications Required Skills Experience teaching or facilitating programs for youth, families, or adults (classroom, outdoor education, interpretation, etc.) Passion for birds, wildlife, and environmental education Strong communication and public speaking skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Comfortable with email, scheduling, and basic document creation (e.g., Microsoft Word/Excel, Google Docs/Sheets) Ability to work days, evenings, and/or weekends for programs and events Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with space for event supplies Background check required Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Preferred Skills Associate's degree or higher level of education Background in environmental education, biology, natural sciences, or related fields Knowledge of Pacific Northwest birds and habitats (or willingness to learn) Experience developing curriculum or educational materials Experience engaging diverse communities and creating inclusive learning environments Compensation & Schedule Hourly rate: $25/hour
Hours:
