Position:

Mondays fall, winter and spring youth foil fencing. Three 45 minutes classes on Monday starting at 4:30 and ending at 7:30PM. Schedule (starts): Sept 14th 2026

Overview:

The fencing instrctor will teach beginner, intermediate and advanced fencing to children ages 5-12. Participants will be introduced to the rules of the sport, the parts of the equipment, how to hold and the on-guard stance. Instructors will demonstrate basic footwork, the target area, basic attacks and preparations for attacks and defenses. Our weekly meetings will include practicing each of these introductory techniques. The beginner course touches upon common technical fencing terms such as piste, parry, riposte, etc. Safety in fencing is emphasized throughout the course. After taking a year of fencing at the beginner level, students will be considered for the intermediate level. The ideal candidate would be interested in building, creating, youth development, instructing elementary age students and having fun while learning. The ideal candidate has experience bringing a strong leading energy to youth programming and a versatile skillset to instruct a variety of different types of classes. This role would include a schedule as listed above with the potential to gain more hours into a significant part-time position. The Fencing Instructor must be a nurturing, mature, and responsible individual who loves to teach art to children and is comfortable with groups of children ages 5-12 years of age while offering guidance and reassurance to their parents or caregivers as their little ones grow within the ten-week session. Classes will be 45 minutes long. We are looking for instructors who will go above and beyond for our families and who will run a high quality, creative program! This position does not offer health or dental benefits.

Requirements:

Professional experience working with this age group and youth. Ability to interact with children and parents in a consistently positive manner. Ability to plan, organize and run age-appropriate art projects for a 10-week session. Successfully complete a background check and provide references when asked. Ensure safety and inspect all equipment. Ability to set up and clear away all equipment (up to 25lbs) before and after class.
