GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Berkshire Hills Music Academy (BHMA) is looking to hire a Part-Time Dance and Movement Instructor for its day program serving adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. BHMA is a vibrant community located in South Hadley that combines music, dance, life skills, and vocational services to support adults with disabilities. We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Dance and Movement Instructor to teach a range of dance styles and movement-based activities to individuals and groups. This position focuses on creating an inclusive, engaging environment where participants can build confidence, express themselves creatively, improve physical wellness, and experience the joy of movement. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, patience, and a collaborative spirit to this dynamic and meaningful position.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION

Lead engaging dance and movement classes for individuals with varying abilities. Adapt instruction to meet diverse physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. Foster a welcoming, supportive, and empowering classroom environment. Collaborate with staff to support participant success and program goals. Encourage creativity, self-expression, and social connection through movement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience teaching dance, movement, or fitness to diverse populations. Experience working with individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of adaptive movement techniques. Experience in yoga, mindfulness, somatic movement, or trauma-informed movement practices is a strong plus. Strong communication skills, flexibility, creativity, and a genuine passion for inclusion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds

$20.00 per hour
