Job Description

Overview Storytellers Dance Co. is seeking a Monday night Acro teacher for beginner through intermediate students ages 6
  • 18 years old.
Opportunity to add two jazz classes also available. We are seeking an energetic Dance Teacher to kickstart the acro program at our studio. The person in this role would create and execute acro dance lesson plans as well as choreograph and teach a recital routine for each class. The ideal candidate is experienced in safely teaching proper technique in tumbling, flexibility skills, and partner acro work on mats and a hard dance floor while still maintaining a fun and welcoming classroom environment. They feel genuine pride at student successes both big and small, and love to teach as much as they love to dance themselves. An acrobatics certification is not required but is appreciated. Duties Create and execute weekly acro dance lessons that safely build on previous skills. Lead an engaging dance classes that emphasizes technique, safe skill progression, and performance quality while accommodating various levels and learning styles Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for all students. Develop age and skill level appropriate recital routines for our annual recital in June, keeping in mind the strengths and personalities of your students. Communicate with studio director to evaluate class progress, ensure class plans align with studio goals, and plan recital routines.
Optional:
Perform these duties in a jazz class environment for dancers ages 5
  • 10 years old.
Skills Extensive training in dance with an emphasis on acro training. Experience and comfort in teaching classes with mixed age and skill levels. Strong ability to adapt lesson plans and classroom goals based on individual student needs and classroom dynamics. Excellent communication skills for teaching to different learning styles and collaborating with studio director. Ability to connect with students, safely producing technical excellence without compromising the welcoming atmosphere in the classroom. Energetic teaching style and genuine love for not only dance, but also teaching. Ability to choreograph creative, cohesive, and age appropriate recital routines.
