  • $20 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Youth recreational activities facilitation Dance coaching experience Movement activities (creative arts teaching) Dancing activities for children Teaching Full Job Description The Town of Onondaga Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing quality recreational programming to youth and adults in and around the Town of Onondaga.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Youth Dance Instructor. Instructors are required to teach multiple 30 minute classes for a range of ages (3-5, 6-8, 9-12) in Ballet or Jazz. The primary focus of our program is children having fun and enjoying the class, not uniformity of dance or perfect execution of skills. Classes are slated to begin in early September and run through through the school year with some holiday exceptions. All classes are taught in our downstairs dance studio at the Town of Onondaga Sr. Center on Velasko Rd. in Syracuse NY.
Job Duties:
  • Teach weekly evening dance classes for children ages 3 and up
  • Availability weekdays 4:00
  • 7:00 PM, September
  • June
  • Plan dance routines and costumes for annual recital
Qualifications:
  • Background in dance either teaching or performing Ballet and Jazz.
  • Knowledge of other styles of dance (Tap, Hip-hop, ect.
) is a plus. Our dance program is designed to provide children with a class that is fun and engaging, helps nurture a love for dance, and allows children to develop their motor skills along the way. We host a yearly recital in late May or early June where you would work with our other instructors to plan a theme, pick out costumes, design props and choose music to accompany the dances in front of our dancers family's. This is great opportunity for someone who enjoys dance and is interested in sharing their knowledge with the next generation of dancers.
