The Central YMCA in Painesville is hiring Water Exercise Instructors.
Available Shifts:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday, mornings Tuesday & Thursday, mornings
Starting Pay Rate:
$13.00 per hour and a

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Design and teach effective, safe and enjoyable exercise classes using proper exercise progressions and cueing techniques. Plan composition/choreography of each class and consistently changing music and routines relative to the class participants. Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes. Instruct lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having/ following prepared plans accordingly. Answer questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being. Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; help members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA. Identify and celebrate the successes of members and program participants. Observe and adjust approach to support all participants' capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture. Creates a safe environment where all individuals feel welcomed and respected. Keep accurate class attendance records. Set up, organize and put away the necessary class equipment. Familiar with proper usage of equipment. Report on damaged equipment. Handle and resolve incidents and hazardous conditions and inform supervisors of unusual situations or unresolved issues. Fulfill responsibilities as a mandated reporter for child abuse and neglect, following all policies and procedures. Demonstrate and model the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and growth mindset in all aspects of your work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred certification: National certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, or NASM) in group fitness instruction OR YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification. Ability to complete certification in areas of expertise. At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes is preferred. Demonstrated ability to safely lead, motivate, and engage participants of varying fitness levels.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. Ability to stand, sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch frequently throughout the work shift. Squatting, jumping, running, balancing, lifting and repetitive motion may be needed depending on group exercise style/ type. Walk throughout the facility frequently and may need to climb stairs occasionally. Have visual acuity to determine safety, security and assessment of participant's movements. Receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word. This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Applications are being accepted until the positions have been filled.
