Full-Time Year-round Vacancy:
40 hours per week
Salary:
$119,000
$129,000 based on experience
Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.
4:00 p.m.

The Director of Teaching and Learning serves as the district's chief instructional leader under the direction of the Superintendent. The Director provides strategic leadership for teaching, learning, assessment, curriculum, professional learning, instructional coaching, educator effectiveness, federal entitlement grants, and continuous school improvement.
Working collaboratively with school leaders, educators, and district departments, the Director develops coherent instructional systems that drive academic achievement and ensure equitable learning opportunities for every scholar.
As the Superintendent's primary partner and designee on instructional matters, this role leads the district's educational vision, supports principals, and ensures consistency, coherence, and continuous improvement across all schools.

Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Serves as the Superintendent's chief instructional advisor.
Provides instructional leadership aligned with the district's strategic plan.
Supports principals in instructional leadership, supervision, and school improvement.
Collaborates with district leaders to ensure coherent PreK-12 systems.
Leads district instructional initiatives from planning through implementation.
Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment
Leads the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of district curriculum aligned to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Oversees district assessment systems, including MCAS analysis, local assessments, and data cycles.
Uses multiple sources of data to evaluate instructional effectiveness and scholar outcomes.
Leads district curriculum review cycles, including the selection, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality instructional materials aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Supports evidence-based instructional practices that promote high expectations, belonging, and equitable outcomes for all scholars.
Ensures curriculum and instructional practices promote equitable outcomes for all scholars.
Professional Learning
Designs and oversees district professional learning aligned with strategic priorities.
Coordinates instructional coaching and leadership development.
Supports induction and mentoring programs for new educators and administrators.
School Improvement
Partners with principals and School Councils in the development, implementation, and monitoring of School Improvement Plans.
Supports principals in analyzing achievement, attendance, behavior, and other scholar outcome data.
Partners with the Director of Student Services and school leaders to develop, implement, and continuously improve a districtwide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) that strengthens core instruction, early intervention, and equitable scholar outcomes.
