Job Summary This position provides classroom and on-the-road driving support for students of the Truck Driving Program. The Truck Driving Assistant reinforces learning material and skills introduced by the instructor, assists the instructor with on-the-road driving supervision of student drivers, and helps students prepare for the commercial driver's license and road test.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter the job) Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Truck Driving AND One year of teaching /tutoring experience in Truck Driving at the high school level or above
- OR•4 years of work experience in Truck Driving where no degree / certificate / diploma / licensure is required•OR•An equivalent combination of education and work experience Valid Class "A" commercial driver's license (CDL) Valid Department of Transportation (DOT) physical health card Must successfully pass a drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job) Effective communication skills, including the ability to sufficiently explain and assist students with successful completion of the truck driving program. Bilingual/multilingual fluent in Spanish, Karen, Karenni, Somali, Pohnpeian, French, Nuer, Anuak, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities. Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underserved populations.
