Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Van Driver in the Sparta, Oak Ridge West Milford area to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of students to and from school and related activities. This vital role involves operating school vans with professionalism, maintaining a positive attitude, and fostering a secure environment for children. Responsibilities Safely operate school vans and other designated vehicles, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations at all times Pick up and drop off students at designated locations, ensuring punctuality and reliability Maintain a clean, well-maintained vehicle, conducting regular inspections and reporting any mechanical issues promptly Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and colleagues to coordinate schedules and address concerns Enforce behavior management policies to promote respectful and safe conduct among students during transit Assist younger or special needs children with boarding, exiting, or securing their belongings as needed Keep accurate records of routes, student counts, incidents, or delays to ensure accountability and smooth operations Skills Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a valid driver's license suitable for passenger transport Strong knowledge of driving safety protocols, mechanical basics, and vehicle maintenance Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities Experience working with children or in childcare environments; understanding of behavior management techniques Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently while maintaining safety standards Knowledge of paratransit services or school bus driving regulations is desirable Customer service orientation with a friendly demeanor that fosters trust and positive relationships with students and parents Join us in making a difference by providing safe transportation that supports students' educational journeys!
