This vital role combines responsible driving with compassionate care, providing peace of mind to families and supporting the smooth operation of our childcare services. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and a genuine passion for working with children. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on young lives while maintaining high standards of transportation safety and customer service. Responsibilities Safely operate various types of vehicles including school buses, transit buses, or specialized transport vans to pick up and drop off children, seniors, or individuals with mobility needs. Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to ensure passenger safety at all times. Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, behavior management, or other special needs to promote comfort and security during transit. Conduct pre-trip inspections, vehicle maintenance checks, and adhere to emergency response procedures for transportation emergencies. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, or caregivers regarding pick-up and drop-off schedules or any transportation concerns. Respond quickly and appropriately to traffic changes or unexpected delays to maintain punctuality and service reliability. Ensure compliance with school policies, student discipline protocols, and senior care standards while maintaining a welcoming environment for all passengers. Experience Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or commercial driving roles involving passenger transportation. Knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, emergency stop procedures, and transportation safety regulations. Experience working with children or seniors in a caregiving capacity is highly desirable. Valid driver's license with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport; commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation is essential. Strong communication skills combined with the ability to handle behavior management and student discipline effectively. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and maintain alertness during long shifts in accordance with state and local driving laws.
