Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers, including children and seniors, using various types of vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and vans. Your energetic approach to driving combined with a strong commitment to safety will ensure reliable service and positive experiences for all passengers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the community by providing safe, efficient, and friendly transportation services. Duties Operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and vans in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Safely transport passengers including students, seniors, or individuals with special needs, ensuring their comfort and security throughout the journey. Assist passengers with wheelchair boarding and disembarking, providing wheelchair assistance as needed. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary. Maintain vehicle safety by conducting pre-trip inspections, adhering to vehicle codes, and performing emergency stop procedures when required. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, passengers, and team members to respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments. Ensure compliance with school policies, child behavior management protocols, and state/local driving laws while maintaining high standards of customer service and passenger safety. Skills Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a valid CDL license. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations applicable to school bus and transit operations. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment safely. Familiarity with emergency response procedures including CPR and first aid certification. Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; knowledge of student discipline and childcare practices is advantageous. Excellent defensive driving skills along with the ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or hazards.
