POSITION:
HHS Allied/Corollary (Unified) Bocce Head Coach (Job # 3891)
LOCATION
Huntingtown High School
POSITION SUMMARY
It is the job of every head coach to instill positive and ethical values in student athletes through sports. The head coach is responsible for themselves, their assistant coaches and their players in the program. The program should facilitate the social and emotional growth of every student athlete while also improving athletic skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Oversee the administration of the middle school's Unified Bocce team.
Liaison regularly with the school's athletic director and Special Olympics Maryland to ensure quality program standards are being met, and policies are being followed.
Develop and implement practice plans in which bocce instruction is provided to all participants at least once a week.
Organize and lead all practice sessions with the recruitment and support of assistant coaches.
Impart the philosophy of a positive inclusive sports experience by following the principles of Unified Sports®.
Plan and manage competition strategies for individuals and the team at Unified Bocce matches.
Handle all paperwork requirements and forms required by the school system and Special Olympics Maryland.
If serving as a host site for a Unified Bocce match, recruit and train volunteers to manage the event.
Attend a mandatory Unified Sports® Bocce Coaches' Training.
OTHER DUTIES
Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Activities Director.

This position remains open until it is filled. Interviews may begin as early as June 30, 2026. References must be directly related to work experience and must include immediate supervisor. State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
