Job Description

POSITION OPENING
Middle School Athletic Director Stipend Position
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Meet requirements for background check and fingerprinting. Demonstrated leadership experience in athletics, education, or related fields. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Commitment to student growth, character development, and educational excellence.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan teaching certificate. Coaching experience preferred. Knowledge of MHSAA rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS
Be visible, approachable, and actively engaged with middle school students, coaches, families, officials, volunteers, and community members, building positive relationships through consistent presence and accessibility. Ability to maintain high expectations, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Effectively oversee Middle School athletic contests, tournaments, special events, and facility operations while ensuring safe, efficient, and memorable experiences for participants and guests. Foster a culture built on sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, service, respect, and excellence while modeling the highest standards of professionalism.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary administrator responsible for game and event management for all middle athletic competitions. Oversight of Final Forms ensuring effective communication between coaches, students and families. Oversight of athletic eligibility for middle school student-athletes. Recruit, hire, develop, support, supervise, and evaluate middle school coaching staff. Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, families, coaches, boosters, community partners, conference representatives, officials, and local organizations while serving as a positive ambassador for Hemlock Public School District. Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming, world-class experience for student-athletes, families, visiting schools, officials, senior citizens, and community members at all athletic events and activities. Promote broad student participation, sportsmanship, leadership development, and positive educational experiences that place students at the center of every decision.
