Part-Time Middle School & JV Athletic Director Heritage Christian Academy | Sylva, NC About Heritage Christian Academy Heritage Christian Academy (HCA) is a growing Transitional Kindergarten-10th grade Christian school committed to challenging hearts and minds to pursue Christ and lead others to follow by knowing, loving, and discipling each student . At HCA, we believe athletics is more than competition. Athletics provides a unique opportunity to develop character, cultivate leadership, build relationships, and disciple students through both victory and adversity. We are seeking a Part-Time Middle School & JV Athletic Director who is passionate about Christian education, athletics, discipleship, and developing student-athletes. The Opportunity The Middle School & JV Athletic Director will provide leadership and oversight for HCA's middle school and junior varsity athletic programs. This person will help create a strong foundation for our developing athletes while supporting coaches and ensuring that our programs reflect HCA's mission and values. We are looking for someone who will faithfully steward the systems already in place, support and encourage our coaches, invest in our student-athletes, and help thoughtfully grow our middle school and JV programs. This is a highly relational role. The Athletic Director will be a visible presence at practices and games, a resource for coaches, and an advocate for creating a healthy, Christ-centered athletic culture. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Growth Provide leadership and oversight for HCA's middle school and JV athletic programs. Faithfully implement HCA's established athletic systems, policies, procedures, and processes. Identify opportunities to strengthen and grow middle school and JV offerings as student interest and enrollment increase. Work collaboratively with school leadership to address new needs and develop systems or processes when necessary. Build positive relationships with other schools, athletic associations, community organizations, and athletic partners. Help cultivate school spirit, pride, and a positive athletic culture. Coach Support & Development Recruit, onboard, encourage, and support middle school and JV coaches in partnership with school administration. Build strong, trusting relationships with coaches while providing encouragement, accountability, and practical support. Ensure coaches understand and consistently follow HCA's athletic policies, procedures, and expectations. Serve as a resource and advocate for coaches as they navigate the day-to-day needs of their teams. Encourage coaches to intentionally incorporate discipleship, character development, and leadership into their programs. Help coaches develop practices and team environments that are developmentally appropriate and focused on both growth and competition. Student-Athlete Development & Discipleship Champion athletics as a meaningful avenue for discipleship and spiritual formation. Encourage coaches to intentionally develop the whole student—spiritually, relationally, physically, and competitively. Help middle school and JV athletes develop foundational skills, confidence, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Help establish an athletic culture that reflects HCA's

character traits : Lead with Conviction Invest Fully Own the Culture Nurture Humility Steward God's Gifts Encourage student-athletes to demonstrate Christlike character, perseverance, humility, teamwork, and leadership. Help students understand that how they compete matters as much as how they perform. Athletic Operations Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the middle school and JV athletic programs using HCA's established systems and procedures. Coordinate schedules, facilities, transportation, officials, game-day logistics, and other program needs. Ensure athletic policies, safety procedures, and school expectations are consistently followed. Communicate effectively and proactively with coaches, families, students, and school leadership. Manage athletic resources and budget responsibilities in collaboration with school administration. Help coaches and teams have what they need to operate successfully. Game & Event Presence Be consistently present and visible at HCA middle school and JV home athletic events . Be available to attend most away athletic events to support coaches and student-athletes. Serve as a leader and resource for coaches during games and athletic events. Help address game-day needs, unexpected situations, and communication challenges. Create a positive, professional, and welcoming experience for athletes, families, visiting teams, officials, and guests. Represent HCA and its mission well within the broader athletic community. We Are Looking For Someone Who Has a genuine passion for Christian education and the role athletics can play in discipleship and student development. Has experience coaching middle school and/or JV athletes or working in athletic administration. Is passionate about developing young athletes and building a strong foundation for future athletic success . Is excited about growing and strengthening a developing athletic program. Is relational and able to build trust with coaches, students, families, and school leadership. Has a servant-hearted leadership style and genuinely enjoys supporting coaches. Can encourage coaches while also providing appropriate accountability. Is organized, dependable, proactive, and able to manage multiple responsibilities. Communicates clearly, professionally, and consistently. Values excellence while understanding that development, character, and discipleship are central to middle school and JV athletics. Is willing to faithfully follow established systems while recognizing opportunities for improvement as the program grows. Demonstrates good judgment, flexibility, initiative, and problem-solving skills. Has the availability to regularly attend evening and weekend athletic events, including HCA home games and most away games . Is committed to creating an athletic culture where students are Known, Loved, and Discipled . Qualifications Previous coaching and/or athletic administration experience preferred. Experience working with middle school and/or JV student-athletes preferred. Strong organizational, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with school leadership, coaches, families, and students. Commitment to the mission, vision, and Christian values of Heritage Christian Academy. Pay:
