Job Description:
The Assistant Director of International Student Services supports international students throughout the F-1 student journey, from pre-arrival preparation through graduation and beyond. This position manages and maintains accurate student records, ensures compliance with federal regulations, and reports required updates and documentation through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Serving as a primary resource for international students, the Assistant Director provides guidance on immigration, academic, and personal concerns while collaborating with campus partners to support student success. The Assistant Director develops and coordinates international student programming, including new student orientation, the International Saints Mentor Program, and oversight of the International Student Association. Additionally, this role plans and manages short-term international programs for partner institutions abroad, supporting meaningful cultural exchange and global engagement opportunities at the university. Immigration Serve as Designated School Official (DSO), advising F-1 visa students on federal regulations, benefits, and processes. Report changes in Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), create updated Form I-20s, and issue travel signatures. Compare data to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Student Support Services Primary contact for student concerns and questions, connecting students to on and off campus resources, as necessary. Liaison for campus partners on student concerns and workflows, including Community Living, Career and Internship Center, Student Life, Athletics, Health Services, Academic Success, SALD, Public Safety, Student Accounts, Registrar, and other student support services. Coordinate break housing and meals, pre-arrival support, and early arrival logistics. Assist students with school tax compliance and resources for filing U.S. taxes. Programming Organize and execute fall and spring International Student Orientations, and the International Saints Mentor Program. Oversee the International Student Association E-board on their planning, events, budgeting, etc. Chaperone trips/events, and drive school vans as necessary. Implement social, cultural, academic, career events and workshops. Logistics planning and cultural programming for FAE MEP summer program. Arrange other short-term programs with partner schools Additional Responsibilities Oversee student workers and interns. Manage office social media and communications. Facilitate alumni outreach and create and send semesterly alumni and partner newsletter. Assist admissions with international application review.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree Experience advising on compliance with F-1 and J-1 student immigration regulations Demonstrated ability to effectively manage complex processes with strict deadlines Demonstrated ability to create a supportive environment and connect individuals with resources Experience successfully collaborating with internal and/or external partners Experience working with people with diverse backgrounds Ability to work evening and weekend hours for special events (ex. Orientation and short-term programs) Must be a U.S. citizen per SEVP requirements for Designated School Officials (DSOs) Driver's license and insurability. Willingness to drive students as needed for trips and events. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Designated School Official Prior experience providing comprehensive support for international students Experience living/studying abroad

Pay Rate:
$62,360 •The hiring pay rate above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law. Siena University offers a generous benefit package to eligible full-time employees.
