Full Job Description Position Purpose:
The High School Assistant Principal is responsible for overseeing the daily programming and staffing for students in 9th through 12th grades in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations mandated for general education and students with disabilities.
Description of Responsibilities:
Serves as the support to the Principal of the High School in developing and implementing programs and activities that promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member. Assists in ensuring that all special education regulations are implemented in direct alignment with LEA, state, and federal requirements and regulations. Assists in developing and establishing school goals and objectives and planning the school's instructional program. Assists in providing direction to staff in implementing goals and objectives and interacts and meets with staff to assist in their development. Assists in evaluating the school program and staff and initiating needed improvements. Assists in defining and disseminating information about school disciplinary policies and procedures to parents, students, staff, and the community. Communicates and carries out established policies, delegates and accepts responsibility for task completion, and communicates program goals, objectives, and policies to the community. Assists in supervising and maintaining auxiliary services and uses community resources to supplement the school program. Supports the implementation of a positive culture and positive behavior program to increase student success and staff safety. Promotes and maintains open communications and positive student attitudes, respects dignity the worth of staff and students, and complies with established lines of authority. Assists in completing records and reports and in supervising and inventing necessary supplies, textbooks, equipment, and materials. Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Academics.
Qualifications:
Current Utah State Educator's License. The ability to lift 50 pounds. Master's degree in education or a related field or current Utah Administrative License. Minimum 3 years classroom experience. Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills, including providing supportive and direct feedback. The ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities, projects, and tasks, including the ability to seek resources and solutions to solve problems effectively.
Preferences:
Current Utah Administrative License or comparable experience. Experience working with mild-moderate student populations.
