Job Description

Position Summary Holy Spirit Catholic School is seeking a dedicated, dependable, and enthusiastic First Grade Teacher-Minister to join our elementary school team. We are looking for an educator with strong K-2 teaching skills and a particular strength in early literacy and reading instruction. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for young children and a strong understanding of the developmental, academic, and social needs of early elementary students. The First Grade Teacher-Minister will provide high-quality instruction in a structured, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that builds strong foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and other core subjects. Under the direction of the school principal, a teacher-minister is responsible for supporting the Diocese of Boise, the Office of Catholic Schools, and school parish in their mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written and oral, public speaking, and presentation skills. Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Possess technological skills including word processing and school-related technology. Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapting appropriately in a ministerial environment. Must pass a criminal background check and complete Diocesan Safe Environment training. Exhibit a clean and neat personal appearance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recognize and support the unique Catholic Mission of the School. At Holy Spirit Catholic School, our mission is to inspire academic excellence, foster creativity, and ignite hearts with love for God and neighbor. Help build the school's faith community by a demonstrated willingness to participate in and help plan school religious and service activities. Demonstrate effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to achieve academic goals. Demonstrate competence in teaching by demonstrating current knowledge of the academic and religious curriculum as specified and be able to communicate effectively with students; be able to organize classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on task as well as motivate student learning. Develop and use effective methods of evaluation that are related to the curriculum. Establish a consistent disciplinary approach, which promotes self-direction and positive self-image; set high standards for student behavior. Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment. Cooperate with school and diocesan administration; work effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents. Participate in/attend all faculty meetings and professional development. At all times, demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing school policies and regulations. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Be available for evening and weekend work as necessary. Collaborate and work with the school parish regarding students who wish to get baptized and or enter the Catholic Church. Hold or attain Diocesan catechetical certification within three years of hire. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited institution. Current Idaho teaching certificate (or the ability to obtain one). Experience preferred in a K-5 teaching environment. Essential Physical Abilities/Working Conditions Ability to perform essential duties without endangering self or other employees. Must be able to remain in a stationary, static position; move or traverse within the workspace; operate office equipment. Converse with others to express oneself and/or exchange information. Detects objects to identify proximity, depth, and/or color and ability to comprehend and/or perform duties prescribed. Motor skills needed for equipment operation and general office duties. Sufficient personal mobility, agility, strength, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work at a keyboard for an extended period of time, to reach, stoop, bend, and stretch in filing materials, lift up to 25 pounds, and work in an office environment.
Pay:
$37,000.00 - $51,500.00 per year
