James & Grace Lee Boggs School is seeking an Elementary Teacher to join their growing team. The purpose of this position is to help accomplish the mission of the school, which is to nurture creative, critical thinkers who contribute to the well-being of their communities. Teachers are responsible for delivering a combination of established and self-created curriculum through collaboration and connection with students, colleague, families and community partners. Qualifications State of Michigan Teaching Certification Classroom experience, preferred Humility and a collaborative spirit Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: Familiarity with the school's origins, including the lives and legacy of James and Grace Lee Boggs Ability to discuss place-based education Provide instruction in relevant subject matter using the Responsive Classroom method of culture-building and management Write and submit yearly curriculum maps, unit plans and weekly lesson plans aligned with the common core state standards and a place-based model of instruction Maintain a grade book and write progress report Meet at least twice per year with families to discuss student progress Prepare data for special education reporting, IEP meetings, and update accommodation trackers monthly Attend weekly staff meetings, common planning sessions, and school improvement meetings Develop and implement school operation procedures Be familiar with all safety drills and procedures Professional Development Attend three-week summer institute in August, including completing assigned readings Attend trainings according to identified professional needs and training availability Complete the yearly Southeastern Michigan Stewardship Coalition PD cycle Ambient Recruiting - an entirely employee-owned company- is the largest independent employer in West Michigan.
