Our Writing course is structured around developing students' analytical thinking, structured argumentation, and writing fluency, all within the unique context of a high-stakes admissions test taken by 8th-grade students. With training and support from our experienced staff of educators and writing professionals, instructors help students sharpen their skills through small-group workshops, individual sessions, and structured writing routines. Responsibilities and Duties:

Teach students how to respond effectively to multi-part writing prompts using logic, clarity, and structure aligned to the test rubric. Focus on reasoning, original thought, logical reasoning, and rhetorical strategy. Guide students through the development of persuasive essays within timed settings. Assign targeted, meaningful practice to reinforce growth, never busywork. Provide thoughtful written and verbal feedback that supports improvement. Collaborate with parents and team members to communicate student progress. Reflect on and refine your own understanding of writing through the teaching process.

Qualifications:

BA/BS in English, Education, History, Journalism, Philosophy, or a STEM field with strong writing experience. Prior teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience is preferred. Strong command of logic, structure, and the craft of written argument. Willingness to learn and apply the specific expectations of the test rubric. A short writing sample and/or in-house assessment may be requested.
