Part-time Elementary Teacher — ELA & Phonics Specialist (Grades 2-5) Luna Christian Academy Luna Christian Academy is hiring immediately for an Elementary ELA Teacher who can bring strong, structured phonics instruction into a grades 2-5 classroom.
If you believe every child can become a confident reader and writer when literacy is taught with the right foundation, we want to meet you. Luna Christian Academy is a K-8 Christian school serving a close-knit, bilingual (English and Haitian Creole) community in South Florida. We're a small school where teachers know every family by name and instruction is personalized to the child in front of them. In this role, you'll own ELA instruction — reading, phonics, and writing — for students in grades 2 through 5, along with Social Studies. Twelve months in, your students will read and write with more confidence and fluency than when they arrived, and you'll have built a phonics-first foundation that carries into every subject. What You'll Do Deliver structured, systematic phonics instruction aligned with the Science of Reading Teach ELA (reading, writing, grammar) and Social Studies to students in grades 2-5 Track student reading levels and adjust instruction for struggling and advanced readers alike Build writing skills across narrative, informative, and opinion formats Communicate regularly with parents on student progress Collaborate with other grade-level teachers on shared students and curriculum pacing
What We're Looking For Required:
Experience teaching students in grades 2-5 Extensive knowledge of phonics-based reading instruction (no specific certification required) Comfortable teaching ELA, Writing, and Social Studies Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
Preferred:
Certification or training in Science of Reading, Orton-Gillingham, or similar structured literacy approach Experience in a private or faith-based school setting Bilingual (English/Haitian Creole) a plus, given our community
