of Steuben County is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to join the team at Carlin Park Elementary School . The ELL Teacher will provide targeted language instruction and support to multilingual learners while collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure students have meaningful access to grade-level curriculum and instruction. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with students and families, use effective language-acquisition practices, and work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support the academic, linguistic, and social-emotional success of multilingual learners. Responsibilities Provide direct English language development instruction to identified English Language Learners in individual, small-group, and/or classroom settings. Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned to Indiana Academic Standards and English language development expectations. Use WIDA standards, Can Do Descriptors, and proficiency-level information to plan instruction and differentiate learning experiences. Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide appropriate supports, scaffolds, accommodations, and instructional strategies for multilingual learners. Support students in developing academic language necessary for success across all content areas. Monitor student progress in language acquisition and academic achievement and use data to adjust instruction. Participate in the identification, placement, progress monitoring, and appropriate transition/reclassification of English Language Learners. Assist teachers in understanding students' language proficiency levels and instructional needs. Collaborate with families and school staff to promote student success and strengthen communication between home and school. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to ELL services and student progress. Participate in PLCs, professional development, parent meetings, conferences, and other school activities. Work collaboratively with the district's multilingual learner staff and other support personnel. Advocate for equitable access to rigorous, grade-level learning opportunities for multilingual learners. Administer the WIDA Model and ACCESS assessments. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administration. Qualifications Valid Indiana teaching license appropriate for the position; an ELL/ESL or related endorsement is preferred. Must be willing to attain within one year. Knowledge of the Spanish language preferred, but not required. Experience working with multilingual learners and/or English Language Learners preferred. Knowledge of second-language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and effective instructional strategies for multilingual learners. Familiarity with WIDA standards, proficiency levels, and Can Do Descriptors preferred. Strong instructional, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to differentiate instruction based on student language proficiency and academic needs. Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, supported, and capable of success. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members. Completion of Safe Hiring Solutions' expanded background check, including the Department of Child Services index.
Compensation Rate of Pay:
To be determined based on experience according to the Master Contract Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Benefit-eligible position Indiana Teacher Retirement Fund Contribution-eligible position (Pension)
