REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
: Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. Valid Michigan teaching certificate at grades 6-12 with English as a Second Langague (NS) and English (BA) endorsements required. Demonstrated expertise in basic technology, including computer operation, productivity software and basic network knowledge. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to meet professional teacher education requirements established by the School, District, and State. Thorough knowledge of school rules, regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior. Demonstrated commitment to the overall success of the school by participation in projects that support the student experience, such as, but not limited to, advisory programs, social and emotional learning, and extracurricular activities. Successful experience interacting with a diverse population of students, families, and staff preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Teach English Language Development (ELD) courses to English Learners (ELs) at various proficiency levels. Develop and deliver standards-based ELD lessons tailored to student needs. Integrate ELD program standards and language goals into all lessons. Implement best practices for teaching English Learners, differentiating instruction based on data. Monitor the progress of high school ELs and FELs (former ELs) throughout the year. Adhere to school and district policies and procedures. Assist with
WIDA ACCESS
testing and data analysis. Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and hold meetings when necessary. Collaborate with staff, including the ELD program paraprofessional and district ELD program coordinator, to support student success. Participate in appropriate professional activities. Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Uphold school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies. Perform other duties as assigned.
