Job Description

High School English Teacher Qualifications Required:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Highly Qualified Endorsement in English (BA) or Language Arts (BX) Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success Student-centered approach focused on meeting the diverse needs of all learners Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies into the curriculum Understanding of diverse learning styles and the ability to provide differentiated instruction Ability to design engaging learning experiences that challenge students and incorporate various levels of depth of knowledge Commitment to collaboration as an active member of Professional Learning Communities Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administration to support student growth Commitment to accountability for student achievement and academic growth Ability to prepare students for success on
M-STEP, PSAT
8/9, and SAT ELA assessments
Preferred:
Successful high school English teaching experience or student teaching experience in secondary English, including general education and/or Advanced Placement courses Master's degree in English or equivalent graduate coursework that qualifies the teacher to provide direct college credit opportunities through local community colleges
