CHEER ACADEMY CLASSROOM ASSISTANT
- Temporary Part Time
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The CHEER Academy Classroom Assistant plays a vital role in supporting instructors and ensuring a positive, accessible learning environment for senior participants. This position provides hands-on assistance during class sessions, helping with setup, participant engagement, and administrative tasks to enhance the overall class experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom Setup & Breakdown:
Assist with preparing the classroom, ensuring materials, technology, and seating are arranged appropriately.
Participant Support:
Provide assistance to seniors who may need help with mobility, materials, or following instructions during class.
Attendance Tracking:
Record participant attendance and report data to administrative staff.
Material Distribution:
Hand out learning materials, worksheets, and any necessary supplies during class.
Technology Assistance:
Help set up and operate instructional technology, including large-screen displays and video conferencing tools, as needed.
Encouragement & Engagement:
Foster a welcoming atmosphere by encouraging participation, answering basic questions, and supporting seniors who may need extra guidance.
Classroom Safety & Accessibility:
Ensure that participants are comfortable and that any safety concerns (e.g., trip hazards, accessibility issues) are addressed.
Instructor Support:
Assist the instructor with demonstrations, group activities, or hands-on exercises as needed.
Communication & Reporting:
Provide feedback to the Program Director regarding participant needs, challenges, or successes observed in class.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Minimum requirements for this position are: Experience working with seniors preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patient, friendly, and supportive attitude. Basic proficiency with technology, including video conferencing tools and presentations. Ability to lift and move class materials as needed. Dependability and punctuality.
REPORTING
This position reports to the CHEER Academy Program Manager
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION
Most duties and functions will be conducted in one of the several CHEER facilities.
WORK HOURS
Varies, up to 4 hours per class
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
Temporary, PT (4 hours per class)
