Join our Kumon center as an Assistant, where you'll have the opportunity to foster academic growth and inspire confidence in young learners. What You'll Do Provide individualized instruction to Early Learners (ages 3-6) in a one-on-one or small-group setting. Guide students through Kumon math and reading worksheets, ensuring proper understanding and completion. Encourage a love of learning through a patient, supportive, and motivating approach. Monitor student progress and provide constructive encouragement. Grade worksheets, organize materials, and help maintain accurate student records. Adapt your teaching approach to meet each student's individual needs. Think critically and problem-solve in real time to support student success. Help create a positive, organized, and welcoming learning environment. About You We're looking for someone who is not only academically capable but also genuinely invested in helping children succeed.
Qualifications & Skills Educational Skills:
Strong mental arithmetic and reading comprehension skills. Late high school or early college-level proficiency preferred.
Professionalism:
Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with students, parents, and fellow staff members.
Reliability:
Dependable, responsible, and committed to providing high-quality instruction every scheduled shift.
Problem-Solving:
Able to think on your feet and adapt to each student's learning needs.
Communication:
Communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, and work proactively in a fast-paced learning environment.
Coachability:
Able to listen carefully, accept constructive feedback, and quickly implement new teaching methods or instructional techniques. Every student learns differently, and special situations frequently require assistants to adjust their approach.
Personal Qualities:
Passion for teaching, patience, adaptability, initiative, and the ability to work independently within a structured environment.
Experience:
Previous experience teaching, tutoring, or working with children is preferred but not required.
Commitment:
Seeking someone interested in a long-term position who wants to grow alongside our center and make a meaningful impact on students.
Scheduling & Attendance Expectations Center Hours:
Mondays:
3:30 PM•7:00
PM Thursdays:
3:30 PM•7:00
PM Saturdays:
9:30 AM•1:00
PM Availability:
Applicants must be available to work both Mondays AND Thursdays during our center hours. Saturday shifts (9:30 AM•1:00 PM) are optional and may be available for those who are interested in additional hours.
Attendance:
Because students are scheduled for specific days and times and rely on consistency, dependable attendance is essential. We expect assistants to report to every scheduled shift, arrive on time, and fulfill all assigned shifts.
Time Off:
If you need vacation or other planned time off, at least two weeks' advance notice is required so we can make appropriate scheduling arrangements for our students and staff.
Compensation Hourly wage:
$10•15 per hour , based on qualifications, experience, and performance. What to Expect A consistent, fixed schedule based on center operating hours.
